Facts About Ramayana
1. Brahma the Lord of creation gave Valmiki the
authority to compile the epic of 'Ramayana’. Valmiki was narrated the events of
Ramayana by the divine Sage Narada. Brahma granted Valmiki divine powers to
compile the great epic.
2. Vishnu held a meeting with Brahma and other
God's and devised a plan to eliminate Ravana. The God's advised Vishnu to take
incarnation as a man as per Brahma's boon to bring an end to Ravana.
3. Dasaratha performed an Ashwamedha yagna before
birth of his sons, a divine being emerged and handed Dasaratha a golden vessel
containing sweet desert. Dasaratha gave those sweets to his wives who in turn
gave birth to Rama, Bharata, Shatrughana and Lakshmana.
4. Vanaras were born from God's in heaven, Brahma
already created Jambavan in Satya yuga. Indra created Vali, Surya's progeny was
born as Sugriva, Hanuman was son of Vayu, Gandhamadana was son of Kubera, Nala
was son of Vishwakarma and Nila was Agni's son.
5. Ravana was described as undefeated by God's,
demons, divine beings, sages and other beings. He conquered the three worlds
including God's, khastriyas and rakshasas. He defeated Indra and 33 other
God's, he defeated various khastriyas and also subjugated various demons
including nivatkavchas.
6. Ravana acquired pushpaka vimana and Lanka from
his brother Kumbera. He defeated Kubera in a battle in Mount kailasa and
imprisoned him. He lifted mount kailasa along with Lord Shiva, as a result was
cursed by Nandi the carrier of Shiva.
